What to do when the BitDefender scan functions are not working

 

Summary:

When opening the BitDefender console in Basic View and try to perform a scan one of two situations may occur:

1.     The scan will not start and no message will be displayed

2.     "Scan failed to execute" message.


Detailed description:

 
Before attempting any of the below actions, if your Operating System is Windows Vista, please disable the UAC (user account control).  Complete information on how to disable and re-enable User Account control can be found here
 

1 The scan will not start and no message will be displayed

-       If you are using a 32bit operating system please download this file then run the file and wait a few moments for BitDefender to start. After that perform a Deep System scan to make sure the issue is fixed.

-       If you are using a 64bit operating system please download this file then run the file and wait a few moments for BitDefender to start. After that perform a Deep System scan to make sure the issue is fixed.

  

2 "Scan failed to execute" message.
 


-       If you are using a 32bit operating system please download this file then run the patch and allow a few moments for BitDefender to load, after which verify that the issue is fixed.

-       If you are using a 64bit operating system please download this file then run the patch and allow a few moments for BitDefender to load, after which verify that the issue is fixed.


 

At the end of these steps please reboot your computer and then open BitDefender, go to Advanced View->Update and click on Update Now.
