Manually updating the BitDefender Business Client

A. Signature updates

Daily signature updates

1. Download the update package cumulative.zip from the links below:

 

-32-bit package

-64-bit package


2. Open a command prompt window and type this command:

 

"\Program Files\BitDefender\BitDefender 2008\vsserv.exe" /stop


3. Copy the update files. Extract the content of the file cumulative.zip into the location (default):

C:\Program Files\Common Files\BitDefender\BitDefender Threat Scanner\av32bit_ent_XXXX

 

Please note that the "XXXX" string in the "av32bit_ent_XXXX" folder's name might vary, you need to select the newest folder starting with "av32bit_ent_"


4. Open a command prompt window and type this command:

 

"\Program Files\BitDefender\BitDefender 2008\vsserv.exe" /start

 

Weekly signature updates

 

To implement the updates simply run the package once downloaded, no additional operations are needed. Please download the packages here:

 

-32-bit package

-64-bit package

 

 

B. Product updates

 

It is possible to manually upgrade the BitDefender Business Client beggining with version 11.0.0.6 (included in version 3.0.4 of the Client Security).

There are 2 packages available depending on the platform of the workstation you need to upgrade (x86 or x64):

 

-32-bit patch

-64 bit patch

 

The 2 methods of applying the patch (remotely and individually) are detailed below:

 

Updating multiple workstations remotely

 

In order to apply this update from the BitDefender Management Server on multiple workstations at a time you can use the „Run program" WMI script available in the console.

 

To apply the patch:

 

1. Create a new „Run program" WMI script

2. Set the parameter /verysilent to run the patch silently, no popups or confirmations dialogues will be displayed

3. Set the path to the product update executable at the „Application Path" box

4. At the destination area enter a temporary path on the computer the patch will be copied before it is executed


 


Updating a single workstation

 

To do so all you need to do is download the appropriate patch for your system (x86 or x64), run it on the workstation you want to update and follow the installation wizard.
