Troubleshooting the installation

 

Summary:

This document describes how to troubleshoot installation errors or situations in which BitDefender install wizard rolls back or you encounter an error message that stops the installation.


Detailed description:

 

  1. Save this file on your computer.
  2. Double-click install_debug.reg - this creates a new registry key instructing Windows Installer to run in debug mode.
  3. Before beginning the installation it would be easier to collect the needed logs if you first delete any existing MSI logs in the temporary location. To access this folder it simply open a Windows explorer window and type %TEMP% in the address bar as shown in the screenshot below:
 

  1. Begin the installation.
  2. After the install wizard rolls back or the error is encountered please collect the newest install log that matches the wildcard MSI*.log  from the temporary location (%TEMP%)
