Troubleshooting BitDefender 2008 registration

 

Issue:

This document describes the steps required to troubleshoot the BitDefender registration process.

Solution:

Basic verification:

All the BitDefender products come pre-registered with a 30-days evaluation license. In order to benefit of your subscription, use the purchased license to extend the expiring date. If you have ordered BitDefender without receiving a registration license, contact BitDefender Customer Service and check your order status.

To determine how much time remains of your subscription, open BitDefender, click Register, and check the This license key expires in information. If the product is using an evaluation license and expires in less than 30 days, use the purchased license to register BitDefender.


Asking for assistance
:

If the product is expired, invalid or the expiry date is less than expected, contact BitDefender technical support. Before asking for assistance make sure you have available the following information and files:

1. A description of the conditions in which the registration error occurred.
2. The purchased license.
3. The BitDefender update log file: livesrv.log from "C:\Documents and Settings\Application Data\BitDefender\DTrace" (for Windos 2000 and XP) or "C:\Users\All Users\BitDefender\DTrace" (for Windows Vista).
4. A screen shot of the Register section.

In order to take a screen shot, press the Prt Scr keyboard key and paste the image in Microsoft Paint. Save the file in JPG format.
5. The report generated with the BitDefender Registration Tool (BDRegTool.exe).
* Download the file on the Desktop, then double-click it to create the bdreginfo.log report.
