This article describes the steps to follow if your Microsoft Outlook email client does not display the BitDefender antispam toolbar. Please note that this document does not apply if you use Outlook Express as email client.
Before you start reading this document, please make sure that you are logged in to Windows with an administrative account (for the operating systems that support this type of accounts). Also, please note that the toolbar BitDefender Antispam places inside Microsoft Outlook works only on accounts that have local administrative rights.
If this is the first time you encounter this issue then it is possible that the BitDefender Antispam toolbar is un-registered. In order to correct that you need to follow the steps presented below:
regsvr32 -u "C:\Program Files\BitDefender\BitDefender 2008\bdo.dll"
regsvr32 "C:\Program Files\BitDefender\BitDefender 2008\bdo.dll"
In the above commands we assume that BitDefender is installed in the default location and the operating system is installed on the C: drive. If this is not the case then you should change the command accordingly.
If this is not the first time that you encounter this issue and/or the above step fails then please open Outlook and go to:
For MS Outlook 2003 and below:
Tools | Options | Others | Advanced Options | Com Add-Ins
For MS Outlook 2007:
Tools | Trust Center | Add-Ins | Go
In the window that will appear you should see the BitDefender Antispam component:
