Summary:

The current article presents how to configure and use the Remote Admin module present in BitDefender Security for Mail Servers (Unix). In this article we assume that the module has already been installed.

Detailed description:

In order to be able to use the Remote Admin module, you need to set a password for the bitdefender user, after installing BitDefender Security for Mail Servers (Unix):

# passwd bitdefender

Changing password for bitdefender.

New Password:

After setting the password for the bitdefender user and checking that the bdradmin daemon is running, you can proceed to access the interface:

  1. From the local machine: open a browser and go to http://127.0.0.1:8139 - type the password you just set for the bitdefender user and click Login.
  2. From another machine:
    • Configure BitDefender to allow this type of connections:

      edit the /opt/BitDefender/etc/bdradmind.conf (or /usr/local/bitdefender/etc/bdradmind.conf for FreeBSD) file and change the last two lines, from:

      allow=127.0.0.1

      bind=127.0.0.1

      to:

      allow=0.0.0.0

      bind=0.0.0.0

    • Restart the Remote Admin service (from /opt/BitDefender/bin): # ./bdradmin restart
    • Now you can go to the computer you want to connect from, open a browser and type http://[your_server_IP]:8139 and enter the password defined for the bitdefender user.
