Troubleshooting BitDefender Update Server connectivity issues

 

Issue:

The local update server module (BitDefender Update Server) that comes with BitDefender Enterprise Manager v2.6 does not manage to download updates for the clients if the internet connection requires a proxy server with authentication.

The current article presents the patch that resolves this situation.


Solution:

In order to apply the patch you need to follow the steps below:
  1. Download the patch (save it to a location of your choice);
  2. Run the patch (bdupdsvrptch.exe) and wait for the confirmation dialog;
  3. Click OK in the confirmation dialog.

Besides the proxy issue the above patch implements a validation mechanism for incomplete update files, returns correct information about the update process and solves other minor issues.

After running this patch launch the BitDefender Update Server (Start -> Programs -> BitDefender Enterprise Manager -> BitDefender Update Server) and click Update now (if you already configured the correct proxy information). The download process should work now.
