Troubleshooting Firewall connectivity issues

Issue:

In some cases the Firewall rules can be set too aggressive causing connectivity issues.

Solution:

To troubleshoot general connectivity issues the user needs to reconfigure the firewall profile as described below:

1. Open BitDefender

2. Access the Firewall section, go to Status and make sure that under the section Firewall is enabled there is a button that reads “Block traffic”.

3. Access the Traffic tab and click “Reset profile” - after that, the firewall configuration wizard will appear:

- step 1/7 - choose a new name for your profile, click Create new profile and check Make this a generic profile and apply it to all networks - then click Next;

- step 2/7 - based on your needs choose to check or clear the two displayed options - click Next;

- step 3/7 - make sure to allow your default browser to connect to the Internet - click Next;

- step 4/7 - make sure to allow your default mail client to connect to the Internet - click Next;

- step 5/7 - choose the correct proxy - if you are using any; if you do not know what proxy is then most probably you are not using a proxy server - click Next;

- step 6/7: choose TRUSTED LAN - click Next;

- step 7/7: click Finish

Open the application that encountered connectivity issues and try to connect to the Internet. If the firewall displays a connection alert then choose “Allow” and make sure to set BitDefender to remember the answer by checking the box near Remember option
