BitDefender changes the default behavior in terms of spam

Summary:

This article describes the new approach used to filter spam email messages for customers having Outlook Express or Microsoft Outlook as e-mail clients.

Detailed description:

When BitDefender detects e-mail messages having spam characteristics it takes two default actions:

  1. Moves the messages to the Deleted Items folder for Outlook Express and to the Spam folder inside Deleted Items for Microsoft Outlook;
  2. Marks the messages as read.

Starting with October the 30th, 2006 BitDefender has changed the default behavior: the spam messages will no longer be marked as read. This change was published via the automatic Update process of BitDefender and intends to help our customers locate and double check the messages found with spam characteristics.

This option can be reverted from the Settings button available in the BitDefender antispam toolbar in either Outlook Express or Microsoft Outlook.
